NRI KYC documents: a printable checklist
NRI KYC asks for a little more than a resident’s, because your address and your tax residency are both abroad. This is the list on one page.
Tick each line when you have it ready. Ask us before you get copies attested abroad: which attestation is accepted depends on the route, and we prepare the right forms for your case.
Identity
- Your PAN.
- Your passport.
- If relevant: your visa or proof of NRI or OCI status.
- A recent photograph.
Address
- Overseas address proof: a document showing where you actually live abroad.
- If you have one: your Indian address, in addition to the overseas one.
Verification
- Time for in-person or video verification. A live check of you against your documents is part of NRI KYC.
Bank
- Your NRE or NRO account details, with a cancelled cheque or a recent statement for that account. Which account you invest from decides how the money can come back out.
Tax residency
- A FATCA/CRS self-declaration: your country or countries of tax residence and your tax identification number in each. It is mandatory; an application does not complete without it.
Contact
- An email address and mobile number in your own name that you check while you are abroad.
Living in the USA or Canada? The same information is captured on physical forms rather than a portal; the route is explained in investing from the USA or Canada.
This is a checklist, not advice
It lists paperwork. It does not name a scheme, rank anything or tell you what to buy. H2 Investment is an AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor (ARN-200996), not a SEBI-registered investment adviser. Requirements can change; the form you are given on the day is what counts.
